Q: I usually brew 20L, what are the dimensions and batch size of the Brew Tank? Which size would be best, 40L or 60L?
We get asked this a lot. If you are like me and prefer to brew small batches more often rather than larger quantities less frequently, I would always recommend the 40L tank. But if size and efficiency is your thing then 60L is the way to go! Once you have the tank dialled in you can hit efficiency over 80%. So that’s 32L and 48L maximum batch size for the 40L & 60L tanks respectively. If you are looking to brew something stronger, the grain baskets can hold a maximum of around 9KG (40L) and 12KG (60L) but this is really pushing it. If you are going for big load like this make sure you add the malt in stages. It was messy but I managed an 18L batch for an 9% ABV brew in the 40L Brew Tank.
The dimensions of the tanks are:
40L BREW TANK
Internal: 35x43cm
External (box): 52x52x57cm Weight approx: 20KG
60L BREW TANK
Internal: 40x48cm
External (box): 56x56x58 cm
Weight approx: 24KG
Heavy things, aren’t they? For a reason! Our tanks are built to last so are aptly named “The Brew Tankâ€.
